Test Overview:

Because cystinuria Type B Variant 1 is autosomal recessive, cats must inherit two copies of the mutated gene to be affected. Breeding recommendations include: Test breeding cats to identify carriers and affected individuals. Avoid breeding two carriers together since there is a 25% chance to produce affected offspring. Mating a carrier to a clear (non-carrier) cat produces unaffected kittens; roughly 50% carriers and 50% clear. Gradually reduce the mutation frequency over generations while maintaining genetic diversity.
